Huge Success for Little Digmoor’s Fundraising Project

You may remember in the Summer edition of About the Town, we told you about an incredible group of young entrepreneurs from Little Digmoor County Primary School who wanted to help raise funds towards a vibrant mural that would improve the outdoor aesthetic of the school.

With a £1000 target, three pupils; Nicole, Rezija and Heni, from the school’s Eco Council, came up with an idea to design some bracelets to sell, with support from AppleCast and The Jungle Hut who agreed to stock them.

Within a few weeks of the article’s publication, we were told the great news that, thanks to the publicity and support from the public and local businesses, they exceeded their goal!

To help design the mural, local artist, Si from Kingsyze Graffiti, brought the children’s ideas to life.

They reached their target when local firm, DHL, donated the full £1000, and even arranged for volunteers to help out with ideas and maintenance of the school grounds, creating an area for the school’s community library for children and adults alike to use.

Joanne Dawe, the teaching assistant working with the children on the project said: “Following the magazine’s article and social media shares, our young entrepreneur’s mission became a real community effort and was a massive success!”

As demand for the bracelets increased, AppleCast, The Jungle Hut and the school were restocked to continue sales of the bracelets, with the money supporting future fundraising projects.
