Community spirit is alive and well in Skelmersdale

Staff at the Concourse Shopping Centre are passionate about what they do, whether it’s supporting shoppers, ensuring that the community have the tools to enhance their health and wellbeing or getting involved with local initiatives. One person, in particular, epitomises this with her tireless community work and passion for causes close to her heart.

Assistant Manager, Dianne Nolan, goes above and beyond through her work with the Mayor’s Fundraising Committee. Here, she lends her support on behalf of the Concourse to various local causes, including veterans’ support groups, West Lancs Ark as well as the local Brownie and Guide groups. Recently, Dianne was part of the team that organised the mayor’s Charity Ball which raised significant funds for vital local services and many other organisations.

Dianne also supports local theatre productions aimed at fundraising for the Mayor’s chosen charities.

Her multifaceted involvement underscores Concourse’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents. From providing provisions for local charities and CICs and actively participating in fundraising efforts and community events on-site to lending a hand at supporting off-site community projects, Concourse Shopping Centre is committed to supporting the community it serves.

Every Thursday from 10am to 12pm, the Concourse Chaplaincy service offers a listening ear at the friendship bench outside Siesta Coffee. This thriving initiative provides a comforting presence and support for shoppers in need of friendly conversation or guidance.

NEWS, NEW STORES + EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS

Exciting developments are underway at the Concourse Shopping Centre! Recently, we celebrated ‘Love Your Market’ week, a testament to our unwavering commitment to supporting the small businesses within our Market. This fortnight-long celebration included business spotlights, and special offers, and culminated in competitions and entertainment alongside the Made in WN8 Makers Market.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce the recent refurbishment of the Aldi store, offering shoppers an enhanced and refreshed shopping experience.

Looking ahead, we are excited to unveil a host of new stores and leisure facilities this summer, aimed at elevating the shopping experience for Skelmersdale residents and beyond. With new establishments already opening their doors, such as Books for Less, a haven for book, DVD, and music enthusiasts, and Discount Direct, a family-owned store offering a diverse range of products, including DIY essentials and pet toys, the Concourse Shopping Centre is poised to become an even more vibrant hub of activity this summer.
