Did you know playing an instrument is good for your brain?
Studies have shown that playing a musical instrument has huge benefits that include increased long term memory, improved reading skills, improved concentration, and it can even help protect your brain against dementia! Music acts as a medium for processing emotions, trauma and grief. Playing a musical instrument can help relieve symptoms of emotional stress and anxiety.

E Rooms understands these benefits and encourages locals to get involved in the services they have on offer. E Rooms is a non-profit social enterprise serving the community of Skelmersdale, underpinned by music and art. It also offers a huge range of activities including music tuition, rehearsal rooms and recording studios, live music, theatre and comedy.
E Rooms provides excellent space for local bands to rehearse and play. There are three rehearsal rooms at present, all are available for artists and bands to book in at just £7.50 per hour! They also offer one to one tuition sessions at the cost of £30 per hour. If you want to play with a band, there are also opportunities to do this through their ‘Young Guns’ and ‘Rusty Guns’ programme. For just £5 per session, E Rooms will help place you in a band and tutor you all to play together. This is great for encouraging both the younger and the older generations to get out and about. Social isolation is on the rise; therefore, this is a perfect opportunity for people to meet new friends, and help strengthen the bonds in our community

E Rooms also works closely with local care homes and schools. Since music is a great way for individuals to express themselves, it has been proven to be a great form of therapy for children who have had challenging upbringings. E Rooms provides opportunities to work with these individuals to help them build confidence and learn a new skill.
What’s more, since music is an expressive therapy, it is useful for those with learning difficulties. That’s why E Rooms provides space for local community groups such as Learning Stars and Active for All. These groups are for adults with additional needs and the activities they take part in at E Rooms include arts classes, music lessons, gardening classes, karaoke, and discos.
