Local Wildlife Photographer David Gibson Creates Calendars of Skelmersdale…

David first came up with the idea of creating a calendar in 2022 to give to family and friends, but upon seeing them, he was so impressed with how they turned out, so he decided to showcase them on Facebook. To his surprise, he began receiving messages from people who were interested in purchasing them, so he ordered another ten which sold right away, but then more orders came flooding in, eventually totalling around 50 sales.

Having initially hesitated about doing them again, David began receiving messages of requests and so in October 2023, he decided to go ahead and create more for 2024. After announcing it publicly on Facebook, orders started to roll in, and so he made the decision to order 110 calendars not knowing whether they would even sell.

He needn’t have worried as they all sold aside one, which he kept for himself. Sharing the success, he kindly donated 10% of the £500 proceeds to the Friends of Tawd Valley, of which he is an active member saying, “The group is growing in strength and has lots of plans for 2024, like participating in creating a new wetland area in the valley and redeveloping the fishing lake in Tawd Valley Park.”

He added that the feedback on the calendars was very positive, “There was a lot of driving around involved in dropping the calendars off, but it was lovely meeting people who have appreciated my photography for a while and made lovely comments online.”

When asked whether there would be a 2025 calendar, David simply replied, “Watch this space!”
