Owner of successful glamping site, The Secret Garden, Derry Green, secures deal with the Dragons…

The inspiring entrepreneur presented his flourishing Secret Garden Glamping business on a recent episode of the BBC’s hit show, Dragons’ Den, captivating not one but four Dragons who eagerly vied for a stake in his venture, resulting in Green successfully securing a handsome deal.

During his compelling pitch, Green shared the genesis of his innovative concept, tracing it back to the challenges of the 2020 lockdown. Faced with the task of entertaining his two young children, he transformed his back garden, later incorporating a tent on a deck. From there, the project evolved organically, expanding to include a pod, sauna, and hot tub, with daily updates of this project on social media garnering considerable interest, eventually resulting in bookings for the unit.

The Secret Garden made its mark by achieving a remarkable 100% occupancy rate from day one, and within three days of the first unit being listed, it was fully booked for the next two years. Recognising an unmet demand in the market, Derry seized the opportunity, propelling the Secret Garden to become the most sought-after glamping site in the UK.

The Dragons, captivated by Derry’s infectious passion and business acumen, competed to invest in his venture. Business magnates Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, and Sara Davies all extended offers. Ultimately, Derry chose to collaborate with Deborah Meaden, envisioning an expansion strategy that aims to establish Secret Garden as the premier luxury glamping brand across the UK and beyond. The deal, sealed at £100,000 for 5%, signifies a promising milestone for Green’s ambitious venture, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in The Secret Garden’s journey.
