Spreading Christmas Cheer: The Storehouse Project

Fifteen years ago, the Storehouse Project, a Christian charity, sprouted from the roots of Family Church with a profound mission—to alleviate poverty and combat social isolation in the Northwest. Their approach involves providing free essential items like food, clothing, toiletries, and furniture to those who need it most.

Operating primarily within three local authorities—Wigan and Leigh, West Lancs, and St Helens—The Storehouse Project has been instrumental in reaching out to those in need. Recently, they celebrated the opening of the Grace Shop at the Concourse, an extension of their impactful work. The proceeds generated directly fuel their mission, enabling them to acquire furniture and essential items for distribution to those who need it most.

In addition to this, the Storehouse Project introduced Grace Shop Gift Vouchers, particularly aimed at aiding survivors of abuse, which empowers these individuals to take back control of their own lives. Requests for assistance are channelled through local organisations such as schools, doctors, support workers and other local charities. While they currently don’t have a self-referral system, they strive to streamline the process for ease of access.

As we approach the winter, The Storehouse Project is gearing up for its busiest period. Last year alone, they distributed Christmas hampers to a remarkable 800 individuals across the three boroughs, a testament to their dedication. This Christmas, they’re relaunching their Christmas Hamper Appeal, seeking donations of food and toiletries to continue this heartwarming tradition.

The Storehouse Project will proudly present its Storehouse Choir, serenading the Concourse Shopping Centre with classic Christmas Carols, on the 16th and 17th of December.
