Spring at Concourse Shopping Centre: Community, Business & Exciting Additions
As spring brings new beginnings, Concourse Shopping Centre continues to grow as a hub for community, business, and leisure. With exciting new additions, seasonal events, and opportunities for entrepreneurs, there’s plenty to look forward to this season.
Encouraging Connection with the New Buddy Bench
A new feature at Concourse is the Buddy Bench, now located at the West Square. Designed to encourage community and friendship, this bench provides a welcoming space for adults who may feel isolated or simply want to connect with others. The idea is simple—if someone sits on the bench, it’s a sign that they’re open to conversation, and others are encouraged to join them. By fostering kindness and inclusivity, the Buddy Bench creates a supportive space for those seeking connection.
Love Your Market Week: Celebrating Local Business
From Friday, 16th May to Saturday, 31st May 2025, Concourse Shopping Centre will once again take part in Love Your Local Market, a global campaign celebrating the vibrancy of local markets. Spearheaded in the UK by NABMA, this initiative highlights the importance of markets in supporting small businesses and local economies. It’s the perfect time to explore the market stalls, discover unique finds, and support independent traders.
Made in WN8: Supporting Local Creativity
A key part of the market community is Made in WN8, a collective of talented crafters from the WN8 postcode who sell handmade goods. This spring, their Makers Markets will take place in East Square, next to Poundland, on the following dates:
- Saturday, 29th March
- Saturday, 19th April
- Saturday, 10th May
These markets provide a fantastic opportunity to shop locally, support creative entrepreneurs, and find one-of-a-kind items.

The Pirate Ship Play Area: A Family Favourite
Families visiting Concourse will be pleased to know that the Pirate Ship Play Area has found its permanent home next door to Iceland. A staple since 2013, the play area remains a free attraction for children, making it a must-visit for parents looking to entertain little ones while shopping.
Springtime Festivities: Easter Celebrations
Spring wouldn’t be complete without Easter celebrations! Keep an eye on Concourse’s Facebook page for updates on competitions, prizes, and special activities happening throughout the season. Plus, don’t miss the Makers Market on 19th April, where you can find Easter-themed handmade gifts and treats.
Exciting New Openings: Delicious Food & New Amusements
Foodies will love the arrival of ‘Bubble Waffle’, a brand-new Waffle & Crêpe outlet, bringing sweet and savoury delights to the centre. Additionally, a Vintage Amusements Arcade is set to open this spring, offering nostalgic fun for all ages.

Thinking of Starting a Business? Try Our Pop-Up Stalls
For those considering launching a business, Concourse Shopping Centre provides an excellent platform to test the waters with a pop-up stall. At just £50 per week for up to four weeks, it’s an affordable way to gauge interest in your products before committing to a larger space. Many businesses have successfully started this way, moving from a trial stall to a permanent market position or even a full retail unit. There’s no obligation, making it ideal for one-off events, special shopping experiences, or testing new business ideas. Interested in finding out more?
