What is the Mortgage Process?

Initial Appointment:

You will have an informal chat with your mortgage advisor to establish your needs, what your plans are and what your financial circumstances are.

Sourcing and decision in principle:

Armed with the information gained from your initial appointment, your advisor will then source a mortgage from a panel of lenders that best suits your needs, and will then run a decision in principle with the chosen lender to secure the money.  The advisor will then aim to discuss any other protection that you may need for your home and those living in it. The advisor will request any supporting documentation required at this point.

Full Application:

Once you are completely happy with the mortgage product sourced by your advisor, your advisor will then submit the application on your behalf.  They will also submit all of the documents you supplied to support your application.

Personal Protection Sourcing:

You and your advisor will continue discussions around the large financial commitment you are about to take on as they understand that life isn’t always plain sailing, and how important being financially protected if the worst was to happen.  It is important at this point to discuss the financial consequences should someone die, become seriously ill, or lose their job.  You advisor will ensure you know exactly what would happen, and how to be prepared.

Review and Valuation:

The lender will review your application and ask for any further proof of information, should they need it.  They will also instruct a valuation to ensure the property is adequate for them to lend the money, if required.

Offer: 

The lender will then make an offer to lend the amount applied for.

Review Appointment:

Your advisor will arrange future appointments to review the mortgage and protection that you have in place to check it is still the right product for you later down the line.
