HOW TO BEAT OVERWHELM THIS CHRISTMAS
At some point during the festive season we all hit a point where we begin to ask ourselves, is this worth it? We get so caught up in the expectations we put on ourselves that we lose sight of what really matters, and soon begin to lose our sanity. If you’re feeling overwhelmed on the run up to Christmas, follow these 4 simple steps to help melt that stress away:
- PRIORITISE
Create 3 lists: ‘Must Do’, ‘Need to Do’ and ‘Nice to Do’. Separate your tasks into these lists and begin with ‘Must Do’ and work your way down. Be realistic, setting unrealistic targets can make you feel worse! And remember, for every few Must do’s and Need to do’s, try and throw in something you enjoy with a ‘Nice to Do’. The key to keeping sane and productive is to break up tasks with things you enjoy!
DELEGATE
Don’t feel like you must do it all yourself. Enlist the help of your family and friends! Try and find easier ways to get things done – for example, if you have everyone over for Christmas dinner, ask each person to bring something with them. You can delegate each member of your dinner party a task, like cooking the Turkey, bringing the dessert, or setting the table.
- DITCH
We do so many things that are unnecessary, what can you remove from your plate altogether? For example, do you really need to spend time and money making a Christmas Eve box? Whilst I know many kids enjoy this, there are so many other things you can do which are just as fun, not as expensive and take much less time to prepare. How can you spend that precious time (or money) on something that will give you and your family relaxation or joy? The most important thing to kids is your time.
- BUDGET
No matter what your budget, large or small, make sure you stick to it. Being strict with your budget takes the pressure off and keeps those scary aftermath bills from rolling in long after Christmas has passed. Plan your budget carefully and stick to it – you will thank yourself for it in January!

Have a great Christmas, and a Happy New Year,
Chelle x
