An Introduction…

I’m so excited to introduce you all to Andrew Forsyth!

Andy joins us as a volunteer with his huge repertoire of experience within journalism. He will be assisting me in creating some fabulous news stories for the next edition of our magazine this summer! So please allow him to introduce himself….

Hi!

My name is Andrew Forsyth, but people usually call me Andy.

I’m one of the latest additions to the About The Town team, brought in on a voluntary basis to provide some of my Journalism experience and help out with collecting and producing stories, features, blogs and such!

I’ve lived in Skelmersdale all my life so I’d like to think I could add some of my own experiences of living in the town and what I’ve seen over the years.

I was handed this opportunity after being introduced to Bev by a member of the West Lancs Social Prescribing team. Previous to this, I’ve worked in various newspaper offices, as well as for professional sports teams, including Wigan Warriors RLFC and Everton FC’s charity Everton In The Community. All these posts were on a voluntary basis.

Prior to meeting with Bev, when I had this opportunity suggested to me, I was instantly interested and wondered why I hadn’t thought of this myself sooner! The meeting only confirmed why I was so eager to get involved. The work ethic, the knowledge, the kind of stories I could work on really appealed to me, and it was an opportunity to learn some more skills. I also felt so welcomed from the off, especially as Bev has been looking for new offices to work from and has considered the need for accessibility so I knew straight away that I was joining a great, creative and friendly team.

I am looking forward to getting started properly and working on many exciting projects, and if any of our clients or readers have any good positive stories about things happening in Skem, please get in touch.
