Celebrating 52 Sweet Years: The Sweet Stall’s Legacy in Skelmersdale

Inside the Market Hall at Concourse Shopping Centre, you’ll find a true Skelmersdale favourite — The Sweet Stall — proudly trading for 52 years!

Founded by the Laybatts family in 1973, The Sweet Stall has been part of the Concourse’s history since the very beginning. In 2010, Paul Davies and his family took over, keeping the sweet tradition alive with passion and dedication.

The Sweet Stall’s success isn’t just about its huge range of tempting treats — it’s about the care and commitment the Davies family shows to every customer.

“We always listen to our customers and try our best to offer the biggest variety at the best prices,” says Paul. “It’s a difficult road, but with the support of the community, we’ve kept going.”

Today, The Sweet Stall has more than 8,000 Facebook followers from the UK, America, Canada, Europe and beyond. From nostalgic classics to the latest TikTok crazes, they offer over 500 sweet choices for all ages. As they celebrate 52 incredible years, Paul and his family are full of gratitude, saying, “We couldn’t have made it this far without the support of our community, and we’ll keep fighting to keep the family business open as long as we can.”
