Community Litter Picking in Skelmersdale – A Thank You

Skelmersdale’s community spirit shines through when it comes to litter picking, with local groups, organisations, and volunteers working together to keep our town clean and green.

From the efforts of groups like the Beacon Countryside Park Rangers, Skelmersdale & Up Holland Rotary Club and Friends of Tawd Valley, to individuals taking action in their own streets, every contribution makes a real difference. During one recent session, volunteers removed 21 bags of litter, two scooters and several shopping trolleys from Tawd Valley Park alone!

Thanks to these dedicated efforts, our parks, subways, paths and verges are safer, cleaner spaces for everyone — people and wildlife alike. It’s inspiring to see volunteers of all ages getting involved, with many young people also being recognised for their commitment.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has picked up a bag or a litter picker to help. Your hard work is what keeps our green spaces thriving.

If you’d like to get involved, equipment and resources are available from West Lancashire Borough Council. Regular group litter picks are also organised by the Beacon Park Rangers, Friends of Tawd Valley and the Skelmersdale & Up Holland Rotary Club.
