Local Barber Aiming To Be A Cut Above The Rest At UK Hair & Beauty Awards
A Sandy Lane barber has seen years of hard work pay off after being named a finalist for Barber of the Year at the UK Hair & Beauty Awards 2025.
Bryan Hill, originally from Manchester, has been cutting hair for more than 11 years, ten of which have been at Sandy Lane. He moved to Skelmersdale four years ago and took over the long-standing Sandy Lane barbershop just over a year ago, continuing its 60-year legacy after his mentor Sharon retired.
“It’s very flattering to be nominated,” Bryan said. “The judges look at more than just haircuts, it’s the story too. As much as this award is about me, I’d be nothing without my amazing clients, my hard working team, Jack and Donna, and all those who have supported me on this journey”
On what makes a good barber, he added: “You need total commitment. It’s not easy starting out, you’re slow and you make mistakes, but if you work hard and never give up, you can achieve anything.”
Bryan describes his clients as family: “We truly care. We’ve got generations coming in, sons, grandsons. Through every haircut, a community is found and a bond made.”
Supported by his team, Donna and Jack, Bryan says recognition alone feels like a win.
