Andy Wheelie Won’t Give Up:

In our last edition, we shared with you about our journalist Andy’s mission to take part in the Chester Marathon, raising funds for About the Town, Alder Hey and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Unfortunately, due to a broken leg, he was unable to complete his challenge. However, showing spirit, resilience and determination, Andy has decided not to give up on his mission, but to amend it ever so slightly, accounting for his recent accident.

Adamant that he was still going to fundraise for the three causes closest to his heart, he decided that he was going to instead push 100 miles throughout November, keeping the name of his challenge as ‘The Wheelie Big Push’. As we reach the end of November, Andy is coming to the end of his challenge, and while he has been doing 10 miles on two different days throughout the month, he plans to do his last 20 miles at GymWorks in the Concourse, using the SkiERG. That’s over 32,000 metres, which is 12,000 more than he did on the same machine during his 40,000 Metre Ski/Row Challenge in April!

If you can get down and support him, he would be really grateful to see you there. We will reveal Andy’s fundraising total on our Facebook page, but you can still support Andy by sharing his story, spreading the word or by donating by scanning the QR code. A further opportunity to support Andy will be on Monday, 24th November, between 10am-6pm at Asda, when he will be doing a bucket collection.
