June Newsletter
Welcome to our June Newsletter!
June already? Wow! Well, that went fast! We have had a super busy week finalising the Summer Edition of our magazine! This issue is more important to us than ever, it represents a huge achievement for us as we have faced, like so many, that challenges the Corona Virus pandemic has brought. Our magazine is packed full of good new stories, inspiring content and plenty of health and wellness articles to keep you up beat and motivated at this time. We also have our brand new Pawsome Pets Competition! We usually only have four contestants, but we were inundated with some beautiful pets, so we decided to pop them all in the competition (although we have only had room to feature four in the magazine itself).
The magazine is due for release digitally on 26th June, and physical copies will be available from 29th June. Our pick up points will be announced on Facebook once they are confirmed, however they will be available in Asda Skelmersdale, as normal. We did have to pause door to door deliveries due to lock-down restrictions. With the restrictions being eased, we are delighted to be able to invite requests for copies on our Facebook page this week. There will be a form you can fill in and this will allow you to request a physical copy delivered to your door absolutely free!

Amy’s Amazing Stories launched a reading challenge a few weeks back giving children the chance to take part in a sponsored read! The money they raised could spend on books and treats for themselves, with a 10% discount reward for taking part. I have to be honest, with working and being a single mum, I was struggling with home schooling! This was the perfect opportunity for me to introduce the reading challenge to my own daughter, Isobelle.
At the same time as launching the reading challenge, Clare, the owner, also launched a fundraiser to help raise funds to buy reading, painting and activity books for our local care homes. Isobelle decided she wanted to donate half of her sponsor money to Clare’s fundraiser. After a week, and some hard core reading, she managed to raise £30.00, £15.00 of which she donated to the cause. Clare plans announce next week how much she raised overall, and what it was spent on. As soon as she does, I will share this on our Facebook page.
A message for our children….
Skelmersdale Police gave an important message this week to the Children of Skelmersdale after receiving some emails and letters from worried children.
After recent events, some children had been concerned for their safety around the police force, which was truly devastating to read. Skelmersdale police took to Facebook to reassure children that they are there to help and protect them, and to let them know they are friendly and approachable. They want children to know they are there to keep them safe
Look out for our interview with Andy and Martin in our Summer Edition of the magazine!

Working from home is something I’m very used to as a writer and editor, but having a child to educate and entertain has been pretty tough, especially because we can’t go anywhere! So Isobelle and I set up our weekly family quiz to keep you, and us, entertained! We really enjoyed hosting these quizzes, and are extremely grateful for the prizes that were donated for the winners! The children, who I personally delivered the prizes to, were delighted! It was amazing to see their happy, smiling faces!
We also ran a few other giveaways over the last few weeks including a DIY Pizza Kit from The Whisk and Pickle Wood Fired Kitchen, a crate of Kombucha from Nutra Kombucha, and a box of sweets from Sweet Addiction! A huge thank you to all of these businesses
