Made in WN8 Makers Market

Since starting in November 2019 with just 6 stalls, the Made in WN8 Makers Market has since grown into a vibrant community of over 100 local makers! Our nurturing, inclusive and supportive group encourage local makers to showcase and retail their unique, handcrafted products at our regular monthly maker’s markets at the Concourse.

Joint directors of Made in WN8 CIC, Cath Carmichael and Claire Cooper, are both School of Social Entrepreneurs alumni and have worked with the Centre for Social Responsibility at Edge Hill University on a project helping young people not in employment or education.

Their upcoming project, the Teenage Market, aims to encourage and nurture young makers, with several already selling their products at our markets. Food enthusiasts will be delighted to hear about our plans for a dedicated Food Market, building on the success of our current offerings. Craft workshops are also in development, providing opportunities for skill development.

Acknowledging the vital role of support from the Concourse management, social enterprise experts Paula Gamester MBE and Maureen Fazal, and the local community, we express gratitude for our journey together. Made in WN8 owes its success to the unwavering support of the people of Skelmersdale, who have consistently embraced our markets.

To expand our creative family, we actively welcome new makers. Whether you’re a local talent or someone who has made West Lancashire their home, we invite you to reach out. Email madeinwn8@gmail.com for more details, as we continue to grow, innovate, and celebrate the spirit of community and creativity in Skelmersdale.
